Ever. They are too heavy and too fragile to ship safely. So where should you get windshields? Not at the dealer! Usually we drive the &quot;original equipment only&quot; theme pretty hard, but this is one area where you can get an aftermarket part<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s just as good as the OEM part and save yourself a bunch of money<br \/>\nin the process.<\/p>\n<p>For example, my local dealer quoted me over $400 for a<br \/>\nnew factory windshield for my 1985 XJ6. My local auto glass shop<br \/>\nquoted me $135 for an <b>aftermarket windshield<\/b>. Both meet DOT regulations,<br \/>\nboth fit the car perfectly, and one is priced reasonably.
